    About the author

    Meka was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband Travis, son Korbin and their pet Curry. Meka is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications.  She also met her husband, Travis at WSSU!  Meka obtained an Advanced Master of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University, in beautiful Boone, NC.  

    Meka is an ASHA (American Speech-Language & Hearing Association) Board Certified Speech Language Pathologist, with over 17 years of clinical experience.  She has served children with communication disorders in a variety of settings, including schools, daycares, preschools, homes and clinics.  She has a passion for serving the pediatric population and their families.  Meka enjoys “coaching” families during their loved one’s speech therapy journey. She believes that involving family members during therapy, educating them along the way and showing parents how to reinforce speech and language goals during their daily routines, will yield greater success!

    When Meka is not working, she enjoys shopping, eating out, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
